Pompeii Amphora Two Handled Urn

This large antiqued turquoise urn features an oval body, tapering toward the base, with a pair of handles extending from immediately below the lip to the shoulder. The center displays an embossed medallion. This shape was inspired by the shape of a commemorative vase awarded to victors in contests such as the Panathenaic games. It is a Greek and Roman Antiquity inspiration. The urn measures 19" high x 15" wide with a 9" mouth. Made in Italy.
