A little something about Hand Block Painting:
The process of taking flats of wood and painstakingly hand carving them by master Craftsmen with small delicate patterns produces a block called Bunta. Bunta blocks are the heart of block printing.
By the late 18th century, the block printing industry was fully functioning in the state of Rajasthan. The graciously flowing river through this area was known for its special quality that would bring out the radiance of color. Basic techniques and colors have remained unchanged through the centuries. The main colors used were red - the color of love, yellow - the color of spring, blue as in Krishna and saffron of the yogi. Today you don’t have to be a part of the royal family or a rich trader to enjoy the stunning colors and the inspired designs.
